When every drain in the house backs up at once, the problem isn’t a drain. It’s the main sewer line between your house and the city main. Wooten Knockout Plumbing clears, inspects and repairs sewer lines across Tulsa, 24/7, with a camera inspection on every job so you see the problem before we recommend a fix.

Signs Your Sewer Line Is Blocked
- Multiple drains slow or backed up, especially on the lowest floor
- Toilet gurgles when the washer, tub or another toilet drains
- Sewage in the tub, shower or floor drain
- Sewer smell inside or in the yard
- A wet, green patch in the yard over the line during dry weather
- Repeated clogs that clearing one fixture never fixes
If sewage is coming up, stop running water in the house and call. Every flush and load adds to what’s on the floor.
Sewer Line Cleaning
Main line cabling
We open the cleanout, usually in the yard near the foundation or in the basement, and run a heavy cable with a root-cutting head the full length to the city tap. This clears roots, paper and most obstructions and restores flow the same day.
Hydro jetting the sewer line
For lines packed with roots, grease or years of scale, jetting scours the pipe wall clean at high pressure and pushes the debris out to the main. It’s the only cleaning method that resets an old line instead of just cutting a path through it. See hydro jetting in Tulsa.
Camera inspection, included
After the line is flowing, we run a sewer camera the full length and record it. You’ll see whether the blockage was a one-time clog or a symptom: root intrusion at a joint, a crack, a sag holding water, a collapsed section. That footage is what the repair recommendation is based on, and you get a copy.
Why Tulsa Sewer Lines Fail
Clay soil movement. Tulsa sits on expansive red clay. It shrinks in a dry August and swells in a wet spring, and that cycle works joints apart and cracks rigid pipe. A line that was sealed ten years ago can have open joints today.
Tree roots. Elm, cottonwood, silver maple and Bradford pear roots find moisture at any open joint and grow into the pipe. Once roots are in, cabling buys months, jetting buys a year or two, and the real fix is sealing or replacing the joint.
Old pipe materials. Homes built before the 1970s in Midtown, Maple Ridge, Kendall-Whittier, Owen Park, Riverview and older South Tulsa neighborhoods often have the original vitrified clay or cast iron sewer. Some 1950s and 60s homes have Orangeburg, a tar-paper pipe that flattens and collapses. If your home is that age and has never had the sewer replaced, plan on it.
Bellies. A section of pipe that has sunk below grade holds standing water and solids. It clogs on a schedule until the section is re-laid.
Sewer Line Repair Options
Spot repair
When the camera shows one bad joint or one cracked section, we excavate that spot, replace the section, and backfill. Least disruption, and the right answer when the rest of the line is sound.
Full sewer line replacement
When the line is Orangeburg, badly rooted at multiple joints, or collapsed, replacing the run from the house to the city tap is the fix that lasts. Modern PVC with solvent-welded joints gives roots nothing to enter.
Trenchless sewer repair
Pipe lining or pipe bursting replaces or seals the line through one or two access pits instead of a trench across the yard, driveway or slab. It isn’t right for every line (bellies and full collapses need excavation), but when the line runs under a driveway, mature trees or a finished slab it’s usually the better choice.
Permits and the city connection
Sewer line replacement in Tulsa requires a plumbing permit and inspection, and the connection to the city main is the City of Tulsa’s responsibility past the property line. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and coordinate with the city so you don’t have to.
Emergency Sewer Service, 24/7
A sewer backup is an emergency. Sewage in the house is a health hazard and it does structural damage to subfloor and drywall within days. We answer at 2 AM and dispatch. Call (918) 576-1577.
What Tulsa Customers Say About Our Sewer Work
I can’t recommend Wooten Knockout Plumbing LLC enough! From start to finish, they were professional and communicated every step of the process, from beginning to end. I always knew what was happening.
I received a brand-new septic line and a new drainage line. I was impressed with how they left my yard, everything was backfilled and leveled. It was obvious they take great pride in doing the job right.
What impressed me even more was how they worked efficiently without cutting corners—even in 100-degree heat! It’s hard to find a company that’s responsive, dependable, committed to quality, and shows up on time. These boys did!
Wooten has always been there when we needed an emergency weekend plumbing issue, usually with our septic system. Would highly recommend.

Sewer Cleaning FAQs for Tulsa Homeowners
How do I know it’s the sewer line and not one drain?
If more than one fixture is affected, or the lowest drain in the house backs up when you run water somewhere else, it’s the main line. A single slow sink is a drain problem; see drain cleaning in Tulsa.
Is the city responsible for my sewer line?
The City of Tulsa owns and maintains the main in the street and the tap. The lateral from your house to that tap is the homeowner’s. If the backup is in the city main, we’ll tell you and you can report it through Tulsa 311.
Can tree roots be cleared permanently?
Cutting them clears the line. Stopping them means sealing the joint they came through, either by lining that section or replacing it. We show you on camera which it is.
How long does sewer line replacement take?
Most residential replacements are one to two days including the inspection. Trenchless lining is usually one day.
Does insurance cover a sewer line?
Standard Oklahoma homeowners policies usually exclude the lateral unless you carry a service line rider. Worth checking your policy before a problem, not after.
Do you do sewer work outside Tulsa?
Yes, across the metro: Broken Arrow, Owasso, Jenks, Bixby, Sand Springs, Sapulpa and beyond.
